Taiwanese Eats is a takeout-only restaurant in Redwood City that specializes in fan tuan (Chinese rice burrito). Fan tuan has become super trendy lately, but this has been my go-to spot long before all the hype! I’m so glad I discovered it early because it’s gotten really popular now, and orders can take a bit longer during busy times. I usually order it through DoorDash for breakfast or lunch, it’s so convenient, incredibly filling, and always hits the spot. My most favorite are braised pork and pork floss. They offer both sticky rice and purple rice options, and the purple rice costs a little extra. Personally, I think it’s worth it because I love its chewy texture, although my friend prefers the classic sticky rice. The crispy fried dough inside is always flavorful and adds the perfect crunch to every bite. And, the portions are super huge! I can almost never finish one in a single sitting, so I usually cut it in half and save the rest for later. It’s just as delicious the second time around. Their soy milk is another favorite of mine. I tried the purple sticky rice roll with braised pork after seeing it on tiktok. It took longer than the estimated time the website told me it'd be and when I saw the size of it, I was immediately disappointed. Although the filling was good, it's about half the size of a normal burrito. I could definitely eat two of these and I usually only eat until I'm satisfied, not full, so that's saying something. It's more of a snack than an actual meal.

This is an online order/pickup place only. I tried their purple rice burrito with braised pork and it was delicious! The meat and other stuffing is generous. The volume of rice used is just enough for you to have a balanced mix and taste the flavor of the stuffing. I am definitely trying the rest of their burritos and will post again. To pick up, there’s a nameplate on the wall with a small doorbell that you ring for someone to come out. Just beware there’s limited parking and it’s only on the street.

First time trying the viral fan tuan and pickup from a shared kitchen - the food was delicious and the pickup only took about 10 mins. It was very filling and a big bargain at $10. My only complaint is that the purple rice is very sticky and the structure crumbles as you unwrap it to eat. It made a mess in my car. The youtiao inside was also very big and hard to bite through, which made it tough to eat and compounded the crumbling problem. But it’s a minor issue and I’d come back since it’s a delicious bargain. If you are heading here for pickup, order ahead as parking is hard to find nearby and it’s in a very tiny spot surrounded by homes and auto shops.

The food was solidly good. The rice burrito (fan tuan) was decent. The pork ears were delicious—probably the best I’ve had in the US. The popcorn chicken was hot, crisp, and flavorful (it is on the spicier/more peppery side though). Be warned, the restaurant is a weird hole in the wall, pick up only spot though. You cannot dine in here.
